site.btaParliament Lacks a Quorum Again

Sofia, August 1 (BTA) - With 76 MPs in the plenary chamber the 240-seat Parliament again lacked a quorum and held no sitting on Friday.

Chairman Mihail Mikov said an extraordinary sitting would be held on Monday afternoon. He said: "As some MPs will not turn up then, let me wish you health, a successful election campaign, and work for the benefit of the people."

Mikov added that Parliament's leadership would turn up on Monday anyway.

On July 30, GERB leader Boyko Borissov said his party would not attend any more sittings, although the legislature  is currently considering updates of the national budget and the  budget of the National Health Insurance Fund, which were  supported by GERB on first reading.

Parliament is to be dissolved on August 6 and early parliamentary elections are to be held on October 5.
