PM Bliznashki:
"In Next European Commission,
Kristalina Georgieva Will Be Europe's Financial Minister"

Sofia, September 10 (BTA) - "In the next European Commission,
the Bulgarian Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva will be Europe's
finance minister," Bulgarian Prime Minister Georgi Bliznashki
told journalists on Wednesday.

He reacted to the news that Georgieva will be Vice President of
the Commission responsible for Budget and Human Resources in the
2014-2019 period.

"This news surpassed all our expectations," the PM said.

"This is the first Commission that reflects the correlation of
forces in the EU. It must democratize the EU institutions and
bring them closer to citizens," Bliznashki added. "I am proud
that Kristalina Georgieva will take this post, it is exceedingly
responsible and influential," she added. "This is her second
nomination for EU commissioner, which is probably why she
received the most important portfolio in the Commission. The
line-up of the new Commission is exceedingly strong, and it will
meet the challenges of the EU," Bliznashki said.

The Prime Minister said he had already talked to Georgieva. "She
will have enormous responsibilities and will be in charge of a
140 billion euro budget and a staff of 30,000, he added." ZH/LG
