PM Bliznashki:
"We Are Trying to Keep Budget Deficit
at Under 3 Per Cent"
Sofia, September 26 (BTA) - "We are trying to keep the budget
deficit within the 3 per cent limit, but if we exceed it
slightly, it will be on account of this extreme necessity facing
the country in order to keep performing its vital functions,"
Bulgarian Prime Minister Georgi Bliznashki said here on Friday,
commenting on the likelihood of a budget update.
"We will propose our version [of an update], we are obliged to
do so, and the majority in the next National Assembly must take
the responsibility," the PM commented. He recalled that the
caretaker Cabinet found a number of commitments for which no
resources had been allocated and which had to be serviced. "What
we are doing is literally stopgapping," Bliznashki said.
He was adamant that financing for hospitals has been budgeted,
but talks with the ministers have not yet been held. "Most of
them will probably be unhappy, but money for health will be
available because the situation is exceedingly grave," the Prime
Minister added. PK/LG
