Investments in Infrastructure in Next Programming Period to Total 5,800 Million Euro

Sofia, October 7 (BTA) - Investments in infrastructure in this
country in the next programming period are expected to total
5,800 million euro, or 60 per cent of the overall framework
financed through EU structural and investment funds, EU funds
management minister Iliana Tsanova said Tuesday, speaking at
forum entitled, "The City 2014".

The EU funding to Bulgaria in the next seven-year programming
period totals 10,000 million euro but not a single euro from it
is guaranteed, Tsanova said, stressing that much work is ahead
so that the resources are invested in high-quality projects in a
transparent, effective and legally-compliant manner.

Tsanova said that municipal investments in public procurement
contracts in construction in the past three years totalled 5,700
million leva, 86 per cent of which came from EU funding,
meaning that basic infrastructure in this country is mainly
financed with EU resources.

According to Tsanova, the biggest challenge for the participants
in the process of the management of EU funds is the
coordination and effectiveness of the work within the system
itself.
