Prices of Vegetables Edge Up 
 
 Sofia, October 20 (BTA) - The wholesale food price index 
 increased by 2.34 per cent to 1.309 points last week, the State 
 Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Wholesale Markets 
 reported. Last year's index for the same period was 1.355 
 points.  
 
 The average wholesale price of tomatoes increased by 7.1 per 
 cent to 1.80 leva per kilogramme over the week in review. 
 Cucumbers increased by 10.2 per cent to 1.30 lv/kg. Cabbage 
 traded at 0.51 leva/kg. The average wholesale price of potatoes 
 decreased by 1.8 per cent to 0.55 lv/kg. Carrots traded at 0.70 
 lv/kg. Red peppers gained 9.9 cent to 1.15 leva/kg.
 
 Apples decreased by 5.2 per cent and sold at 1.01 lv/kg. Lemons 
 decreased by 9.5 per cent to 2.2706 lv/kg. Grapes gained 2.5 per
 cent to 1.57 lv/kg.
 
 The price of white brined cheese from cow's milk was 5.53 lv/kg.
 Yellow kashkaval cheese of the Vitosha type was selling at 
 10.82 lv/kg on average.
 
 Sunflower oil went down by 0.5 per cent to 1.91 lv/litre. Minced
 meat traded at 4.58 lv/kg. The price of sugar was 1.20 lv/kg. 
 Type 500 flour was selling at 0.81 lv/kg. Common beans was 
 traded at 4.22 lv/kg. Eggs could be obtained for an average 
 wholesale price of 0.18 leva a piece.
