Reformist Bloc Leader Optimistic
about Cabinet; Future PM to be
Nominated by GERB
Sofia, November 4 (BTA) - President Rosen Plevneliev and the
right-wing
Reformist Bloc (RB) coalition held talks Tuesday as part of
Plevneliev's discussions with the political formations in the
new Parliament before he serves an exploratory mandate to form a
government to the formation with the biggest number of seats,
the rightist GERB party. This is expected to take place on
Wednesday.
The RB was represented by the leaders of parties in the
coalition: Meglena Kuneva, Radan Kanev, Bozhidar Loukarski,
Borislav Velikov, Korman Ismailov and Nikolai Nenchev.
Kanev said, emerging from the talks, that there is a big
likelihood for the formation of a cabinet. He said that, given
the outcome of the October 5 early elections, it is very
important for a government to be formed with the first mandate,
that given to GERB.
Kanev said also that GERB will nominate a prime minister. The RB
official said that in the conditions of the ongoing talks
between the two formations on a detailed coalition agreement, a
programmatic declaration and ensured parliamentary majority, the
RB will support the prime minister suggested by GERB. Asked
about the likelihood of him becoming such, Kanev said he would
not discuss this hypothesis and that it was unlikely.
Taking a reporter's question, Kanev said that in talks he held
with GERB leader Boyko Borissov on Tuesday, the latter did not
suggest Kanev's becoming a prime minister. The RB official also
said that the formation will present their suggestions for
ministers later in the day, noting that they are neither eight
nor nine but correspond to RB's performance at the elections.
Before that, on his way to the meeting Kanev declined to dwell
on a comment
he made on Facebook that he would accept to become prime
minister but only with the clear support of the political union
he is part of and with his family's support.
Kanev said also that the programmatic declaration the RB and
GERB are drafting will be "the most detailed such document in
the new Bulgarian history". He also spoke about "a new level of
coalition culture".
In the early afternoon, GERB and the RB started a fresh round of
talks on the composition and structure of the government. Boyko
Borissov is attending accompanied by his deputy Tsvetan
Tsvetanov. The RB is represented by the six party leaders.
Later in the day Plevneliev is to hold a meeting with the
Movement for Rights and Freedoms. LY /ZH/
