Sofia, December 1 (BTA) - Meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign
Minister Aleksey Meshkov here on Monday, Bulgarian Foreign
Minister Mitov said that Bulgaria and Russia have a lot to
discuss within the context of bilateral relations and European
and global developments. Meshkov is visiting here to attend
observances marking the 100th anniversary of the dedication of
the Russian church of St Nicholas the Miracle Maker in Sofia.

Mitov voiced Bulgaria's concerns over the crisis in Ukraine,
underscoring the importance of observing the Minks agreement.
The Bulgarian Foreign Minister said that a key condition to
normalizing the situation is an immediate end to all military
action in Ukraine. The humanitarian situation should be improved
through the concerted efforts of all. The Organization for
Security and Cooperation in Europe should implement its border
monitoring mission and monitor the implementation of the Minsk
agreement.

For his part, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Meshkov said that
Russia is doing its best to resolve peacefully the situation in
Ukraine. He noted the importance of keeping the Minsk format of
negotiations on all contentious issues.

Minister Mitov said that Russia should show all its resolve to
solve the Ukraine crisis as it would give another perspective to
the EU-Russia dialogue.

On the agenda of talks were also the security of gas supplies to
Europe, with Mitov underscoring its importance to Bulgaria.
