PM Borissov: Work Continues to Get Situation Back to Normal after Latest Floodings


Sofia, February 2 (BTA) - Prime Minister Boyko Borissov wrote on
Facebook on Sunday that all teams of the Civil Protection, the
local administrations and ministers are working in the flood-hit
areas so that the situation gets back to normal. Borissov
offered condolences to the relatives of the victims of the
floodings and gale-force winds which hit many parts of Bulgaria
on Saturday and Sunday.

The situation in all flood-hit areas: Smolyan, Kurdjali, Yambol,
Bourgas, Varna, Shoumen, Turgovishte, Berkovitsa and Vurshets,
is gradually getting back to normal, head of the Fire Safety and
Protection of the Population Directorate General Nikolai
Nikolov said in Kurdjali, Southern Bulgaria, on Monday.

Movement of trains which had been suspended due to flooded
tracks has been restored. The only stretches where work is still
going are are between Plachkovtsi and Krustets and
Smyadovo-Komunari in Northern Bulgaria.

Defence Minister Nikolai Nenchev is in the Yambol Region on
Monday where the army is rendering aid to the people. On Sunday
he was in Smolyan and Kurdali where the army too was helping the
local powers cope with the heavy flooding.
