WB Hails Bulgarian Government's Actions


Sofia, February 5 (BTA) - Deputy Prime Minister Roumyana
Buchvarova and World Bank country director for Bulgaria Tony
Thompson met here Wednesday to discuss areas in which the World
Bank can support the government, said the government press
office. The areas that were singled out include the efforts to
modernize the state administration, e-government, education and
health care.

Tony Thompson is quoted as saying that Bulgaria is now a
priority for the World Bank and it hails the actions of the
government. He reportedly underscored the cooperation between
the government ministers and the World Bank on the joint
projects.

The World Bank believes that it is essential to improve public
confidence in the state instititions, and the way to achieve
this is through improving the work and management of the
administration.

The World Bank expertise can also help Bulgaria identify the
areas which can step up the achievement of faster and inclusive
