Justice Minister: 75 Disciplinary Proceedings Opened against Private Enforcement Agents in 2014, 55 Resolved
Sofia, May 29 (BTA) - Three private enforcement agents were temporarily suspended in 2014, said Justice Minister Hristo Ivanov during Friday's Question Time in Parliament. He was responding to a question by socialist MP Maya Manolova. A group of experts is reviewing thoroughly the private enforcement service and is expected to come with proposals on how to improve it within a month, said Ivanov.
Manolova cited the case of a woman from the southern town of Kyustendil, earning the minimum wage, who had to pay 500 leva in fees and expenses because of an overdue Internet payment of 20 leva. Of these, 200 were in fees for the private enforcement agent.
In 2014, 525 checks were carried out of private enforcement agents. Of these 138 were implemented by tax inspectors. In 2014, 75 disciplinary proceedings were opened against private enforcement agents, 12 were instituted by the Bulgarian Chamber of Private Enforcement Agents. Sixty proceedings have already concluded and 55 have been resolved. LI/PP
