Trafficking of 31 Migrants Investigated

Sofia, September 12 (BTA) - The Regional Prosecution Office of Svilengrad (Southern Bulgaria) is investigating an unknown perpetrator for human trafficking.

On September 9, a border police patrol tried to flag down a minibus registered in the southern town of Haskovo but the driver sped by, pulled over 200 metres further down the road and fled the vehicle, leaving the engine running.

Thirty-one migrants were found in there, including five children aged between four and 14, from Pakistan, Iraq and Afghanistan. The migrants said they had paid 1,700 dollars each to be taken into European countries.
