Bulgarian President Plevneliev Confers with Moldovan Prime Minister Strelet, Indonesian Vice President Kalla
New York, September 29 (BTA) - Bulgarian President Rosen
Plevneliev conferred with Moldovan Prime Minister Valeriu
Strelet and with Indonesian Vice President Muhammad Jusuf Kalla
within the framework of the 70th UN General Assembly Session in
New York, the head of State Press Secretariat said on Tuesday.
"Bulgaria supports Moldova's European perspective, and our
country was among the first Member States to ratify the
Moldova-EU Association Agreement," Plevneliev said during his
meeting with Strelet. The President pointed out that Bulgaria is
prepared to provide Moldova with any kind of assistance during
its progress to the European Union, including by sharing
experience and expertise, as well as support for the reforms
underway.
The head of State said that, considering the 65,000-strong
Bulgarian community in Moldova, the two countries are naturally
connected, and he expressed the hope that the Bulgarian
community's socio-economic situation will continue to improve
within a unitary and independent Moldova. The President stressed
Bulgaria's desire that the administrative reform underway in
Moldova would not affect the Taraclia region, which is a
historically established centre of the Bulgarian national
minority in that country.
Prime Minister Strelet thanked Bulgaria for its strong support
to his country's reform process and European road. In his words,
Moldova sees Bulgaria as "a role model for integration into the
Euro-Atlantic structures". The Prime Minister assured
Plevneliev that the interests of the Bulgarian community in
Taraclia will be taken into consideration within the context of
the arguments set forth by the Bulgarian side and in the spirit
of the traditional friendship between the two countries.

Effective October 1, 2015, Indonesia will introduce visa-free
entry for the nationals of all EU Member States, which will help
strengthen contacts and cooperation with Bulgaria, Indonesian
Vice President Kalla said during talks with President Plevneliev
at the UN Headquarters in New York.
Plevneliev pointed out that Bulgaria highly appreciates
Indonesia's leading role in the region as the most populous
ASEAN and Islamic country with a functioning democratic system
of government.
Bulgarian-Indonesian relations are advancing vigorously, helped
by the sessions of the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation
and the memoranda signed on cooperation in tourism, youth and
sports and other sectors. Plevneliev sees a significant
potential for a further expansion of economic cooperation in
intensifying investments and promoting tourism. Trade,
investments and tourism are key areas holding up prospects for
furthering economic relations, President Plevneliev and Vice
President Kalla emphasized.
