Bulgarian Foreign Minister Mitov Talks to US Assistant State Secretary Nuland

New York, September 30 (BTA) - On the sidelines of the 70th UN General Assembly Session, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov met with US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland on September 29, said the Foreign Ministry press office Wednesday.

The two sides reconfirmed the strategic dialogue between Bulgaria and the US, discussed issues from the international agenda and the results of joint work in key areas of cooperation, including security and defence, energy security and diversification, to mention but a few.

Mitov also participated in the Conference on Facilitating the Entry into Force of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) and called upon the countries which have not yet ratified the Treaty and whose ratification is instrumental for its entry into force, to take measures for quick accession.

He gave high marks to the international system for disaster monitoring and early warning set in place by the CTBT.

In conclusion, Mitov expressed hope that the messages from the final declaration of the conference will reach the countries which have not ratified the Treaty so that a significant headway be made towards its entry into force in the coming two years.
