Employers' Organizations Alert Prosecution Service about Energy, Water Sector
Sofia, September 30 (BTA) - The leaderships of the four nationally representative employers' organizations in Bulgaria submitted three alerts at a meeting here on Wednesday with Prosecutor General Sotir Tsatsarov, Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria (CEIBG) Board Chairman Kiril Domouschiev told journalists.
He pointed out that the first alert provides data on a violation of the law in connection with the US-owned AES Maritza East 1 TPP and ContourGlobal Maritsa East 3. In his words, the alert concerns the time when the initial contracts with those power plants were signed under the Ivan Kostov Government (1997-2001) and the years during which they were annexed on numerous occasions under the Sergei Stanishev Government (2005-2009) "to the detriment of the State".
Domouschiev said that the employers' organizations want these contracts to be terminated and that those power plants should enter the free market.
The second alert concerns numerous violations in the renewable energy sources sector, which ultimately lead to a steady increase in the public obligation surcharge to the electricity price that is paid by business and household users, the CEIBG chief said.
The third alert is against a decision of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission, it emerged after the meeting.
Domouschiev said that Tsatsarov had promised to see the employers again on November 10 and to present to them the results of the checks.
The employers said on Wednesday that they are prepared to stage protests if the Government does not work for reverting the electricity price to its pre-August 1 level as from November 1, 2015.
