Social Security Agreement Guarantees Pension Rights of Bulgarians Working in Tunisia

Sofia, October 2 (BTA) - Labour and Social Policy Minister
Ivailo Kalfin and Tunisia's Minister of Social Affairs Ahmed
Ammar Younbaii Thursday signed a bilateral Social Security
Agreement, which guarantees the pension rights of Bulgarians and
Tunisians who have worked in the two countries, Kalfin's
ministry said in a press release.

The document's entry into force will allow over 200 Bulgarians
who are working or have worked in Tunisia to exercise their
pension rights.

Kalfin is on a working visit to Tunisia between September 30 and
 October 3.

Emerging from the meeting with Younbaii, the Bulgarian Labour
Minister said that he and his counterpart not only signed the
Social Security Agreement but also discussed additional topics
on which their countries will work together. Tunisia is
interested in the conditions and quality of work in Bulgaria, as
well as in the measures taken to fight poverty, Kalfin added.
In his words, Tunisia has a very long and advanced experience in
the effective social dialogue and Bulgaria could draw good
solutions in this sphere.

Both countries agree that the Social Security Agreement will
make the bilateral economic ties more intensive because it
creates a regulatory framework of the social relations between
the business and workers from Bulgaria and Tunisia.

The document will enter into force for Bulgarian nationals once
it is ratified by the National Assembly, the press release
specifies.

Kalfin invited the Tunisian Social Affairs Minister to visit
Bulgaria.
