Labour and Social Policy Minister Suggests Equal Increase of Minimum Contributory Incomes in All Economic Sectors
Sofia, October 22 (BTA) - Labour and Social Policy Minister Ivailo Kalfin released a statement through his press office saying that, following a discussion with the Prime Minister, he will propose a default increase of 7.5 per cent of the minimum contributory incomes in all economic sectors in 2016.
The move scraps a previous suggestion to exempt tobacco growers from the increase.
In the statement Kalfin says that the social partners have reached an agreement on the contributory income thresholds in 48 sectors. The increase is different for the different sectors, and averages 7.5 per cent. For those economic sectors in which employers and trade unions had not agreed a specific rate or had not negotiated at all, the law gives the right to the Labour and Social Policy Minister to propose a rate. According to Kalfin, however, the use of this option should not be encouraged.
