2015 Budget to be Updated to Provide More Money for  Various Ministries

Sofia, October 27 (BTA) - Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov said Tuesday that the 2015 budget will be updated to provide more money to various ministries, including those of the interior and of defence. "I did my best to push for reforms in the ministries of the interior and of defence, but for one reason or another we failed to achieve this," Goranov said.

The Minister said that there are legal provisions that can be used for further streamlining the systems of defence and of the interior, which will be used "when the time is right". He reminded that he has been pushing for reforms of the two ministries since March but noted that it is impossible to leave without pay the regular staff only because the political offices could not implement this or that reform.

The proposals for budget increases in the different administrations exceed 830 million leva.

Goranov also said that the idea to take out a 5,300 million leva loan in 2016 is backed by the need to finance the budget deficit, payments for a debt that matures then and for buffers that will ensure liquidity of the country.
