Conflict of Interest Commission's Ex-chairman Gets Three-Year Conditional Sentence
Sofia, October 30 (BTA) - The Supreme Court of Cassation substituted a conditional
sentence for the custodial sentence of the Conflict of Interest Commission's former
chairman Filip Zlatanov on Thursday.
Zlatanov was given a three years' conditional sentence with five years' probation instead of three years and six months' imprisonment. The court judgement is unappealable.
Zlatanov was charged with wrongful administration of the Commission's case records after his notepad was found to contain instructions apparently received from senior public officials on how to manipulate certain conflict-of-interest cases. The notepad, which was part of the evidence, was stolen before the hearing of the case from the car of the investigator working on the case. Selected pages of the notepad were published in the media.
