Bulgarian Church Leader Offers Condolences after Tragedies in Egypt and Romania
Sofia, November 1 (BTA) - The head of the Bulgarian Orthodox
Church (BOC), Patriarch Neofit, joined the country's secular
leaders in offering his condolences after Saturday's tragic
incidents in Egypt and Romania, the BOC Holy Synod reported on
Sunday.
In the former case, Neofit wrote to the Primate of the Russian
Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, in connection with the crash
of a Russian airliner with 224 people on board in Egypt's Sinai
Peninsula. He prayed that God may comfort the bereaved and give
them strength to overcome their grief.
In a message to Patriarch Daniel of the Romanian Orthodox
Church, Neofit said he was profoundly saddened to learn of the
death of dozens of young people in the Bucharest nightclub fire.
A memorial service for the Egypt crash victims was held in the
Russian Church in Sofia.
