Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew Receives Merit Awards in Bulgaria

Sofia, November 9 (BTA) - Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew was
awarded an Honorary Doctor's degree of the Bulgarian Academy of
Sciences (BAS) Monday.
 
Bartholomew is paying a visit to Bulgaria on November 7-10.
   
The formal event was held in the presence of Bulgarian Patriarch
 Neophyte, metropolitans from the Holy Synod, leaders of various
 religious denominations in Bulgaria, scientists and public
figures.
   
BAS President Stefan  Vodenicharov presented the life and
contribution of Patriarch Bartholomew.
   
In his speech, Patriarch Bartholomew dwelt on issues of current
relevance, including climate change, the attitude to planet
resources and migration problems.
