Think Thank: Paris Attacks Remind Us We Live on Edge of Huge Cultural, Civilizational Rift
Sofia, November 23 (BTA) - The terrorist attacks in Paris
reminded us that we live on the edge of a huge cultural and
civilizational rift, which can not be overcome with the help of
bureaucratic solutions and ideological doctrines, said the
Institute for Right-wing Policy (IRWP) at a BTA-hosted news
conference Monday while presenting its monthly analysis.
Europe is facing the challenge of forming an adequate political
leadership, which can replace the complex balances within the
existing dominating bureaucratic minority, and which can
effectively uphold the civilizational model to which we belong,
IRWP commented. According to the Institute, the clash between
the official liberal doctrine and the conservative values within
Europe is a fact, which is entitled to its political response.
The IRWP analysts believe that the liberals' economic arguments,
about the need to import workers from the Arab world, seem
invalid after the Paris attacks. According to the Institute,
today's challenge is not economic, but cultural and
civilizational.
According to the IRWP, Europe can not afford to take anymore
migrants and refugees from the Muslim world until it finds the
answer how to fully integrate them into its cultural and
civilizational model.
It is now clear that the cultural clash between Christian Europe
and Islamic fundamentalism can not be overcome with economic
solutions and social benefits protection, nor with the
self-delusion that the Western world's values are universal. War
is inevitable because it no longer depends on the West's
decisions, but on those made by the Islamic fundamentalists, the
analysis says.
According to the IRWP, Europe's main objective is not to avoid a
war, but to keep it away from its territory. SN/MY
