Bulgaria for the Citizens Movement Wants Reformist Bloc to Stay in Government

Sofia, December 14 (BTA) - Bulgaria for the Citizens Movement (BCM) Chair Meglena Kuneva told journalists Monday that her party's Executive Council has adopted a decision earlier in the day, according to which BCM, which is part of the Reformist Bloc (RB), sees the Bloc's participation in government as a guarantee for the stability of institutions.

BCM's decision comes after another main participant in the RB, Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB), decided on Saturday to withdraw their confidence from Prime Minister Boyko Borissov's Cabinet and go into opposition.

BCM is preparing a declaration of support for the Government, which contains a clear commitment that visible results will be achieved in the first half of next year in the following areas: anti-corruption legislation, legislation related to the judicial reform, reforms in education and healthcare, optimizing energy costs, speeding up work on electronic governance and implementing other administrative reform measures.

According to Kuneva, given the results from the local elections, there are no grounds for holding early parliamentary elections.

BCM expects that GERB will nominate a justice minister candidate in the next few days and that nomination will be broadly discussed.

Leaders of the parties constituting the Reformist Bloc will meet on Tuesday to discuss their further actions and positions.
