Ombudsman Maya Manolova to Name Diana Kovacheva as Deputy

Sofia, January 13 (BTA) - Ombudsman Maya Manolova will submit a proposal to Parliament naming Diana Kovacheva as her deputy.

Kovacheva was deputy justice minister between 2011 and 2013 and long-serving executive director of the national chapter of Transparency International.

She was nominated by the Transparency International Association and was selected after a public hearing of five candidates nominated by NGOs.

A commission set up by Manolova assessed the candidates, ranking Kovacheva first with 22 points, followed by Hyussein Ismail with 16 points. Ismail was nominated by the Union of the Blind and was deputy ombudsman until now. Aisun Avdjiev, Anzhelika Tsokova and Denitsa Dimitrova were given 14 points each.
