58% of Bulgarians Believe Cabinet Will Serve Out Its Term in Office - Pollsters

Sofia, June 8 (BTA) - The Cabinet will serve out its four-year term, according to 58 per cent of the Bulgarians. Only 20 per cent (three times less) of the interviewed consider that there could be early parliamentary elections. These are the results of a nationally representative opinion poll carried out by the Exacta Research Group among 1,000 Bulgarians in the May 25-31 period.

The prevailing number of those who expect early elections are supporters of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), Ataka and mostly the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF). 92 per cent of the followers of GERB are convinced that the incumbent Government will serve a full term.

According to 61 per cent of the respondents, the GERB governance has no alternative among the parliamentary represented parties. This opinion is supported by 80 per cent of the GERB supporters.

GERB is the political party enjoying the highest support - 26.5 per cent, followed by BSP with 15.4 per cent. An increase of the electoral support for BSP is reported after the party's progress, which is indicative of mobilization of the hard-core supporters.

The Reformist Bloc is third with 5.6 per cent keeping the level of support of the past year. 4.5 per cent is the support for the Patriotic Front and around 3 per cent for ABV. The pollsters report a decrease of the support for Ataka down to 1.5 per cent.

Following the registration of DOST the support for MRF has slightly dropped. However, the electorate would not disclose which of the two parties they would support. By the end of May, the declared support for MRF was 5.4 per cent.
