JAC Motors of China Explores Opportunities  for Production of Electric Cars in Bulgaria

Sofia, June 23 (BTA) - JAC Motors of China is exploring the opportunities for starting a production of electric cars in Bulgaria and use it as a stepping stone to the European markets. The project was announced by company officials at a meeting with Bulgarian Deputy Economy Minister Lyuben Petrov, said Petrov's Ministry.
 
JAC Motors sees Bulgaria as a door to the European markets for the electric cars and buses it makes. Its officials reportedly said that if they make a successful start of a business in Bulgaria, they will consider building up a plant for assembly of electric cars which will use locally produced components.

The Bulgarian Deputy Minister told them that Bulgaria has traditions in the production of electric cars and fork lifts in the past and that early 2016 saw the establishment of an automobile industry cluster which is an indication of a significant number of companies and employees in this sector.

Petrov also told them that 8 out of 10 cars in the world has Bulgarian components.
