Committee Approves Bulgarian Nominee Tanchev as European Court of Justice Advocate General
Sofia, July 20 (BTA) - The Justice Ministry announced on Wednesday that a selection committee has found that Prof. Evgeni Tahcnev meets the requirements for advocate general at the European Court of Justice.
Tanchev was nominated by the Bulgarian government on March 30 at the proposal of Justice Minister Ekaterina Georgieva and Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov.
According to the committee's assesment, Tanchev has a solid and profound legal background and the skills to work in an international environment where different legal traditions are presented.
The advocates general at the European Court of Justice are appointed on a general consent by the governments of the EU members for a six-year period following consultations with the selectiions committee.
Tanchev has been a law professor for 39 years and has served as legal adviser to Parliament, the President, the Ombudsman and as constitutional judge.
