Bulgarian Exports Up 4% in 2015

Sofia, September 12 (BTA) - Bulgaria exported goods worth 44,949.5 million leva in 2015, up 4 per cent on 2014, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said. Year-on-year monthly data show exports increased most in March 2015 (24.4 per cent) and decreased most in September (7.5 per cent).

Imports totalled 51,549.0 million leva (at CIF prices) in 2015, up 0.9 per cent on 2014. Comparing year-on-year monthly data, the NSI said imports grew most in March 2015 (13 per cent) and dropped most in September (12.3 per cent).

In 2015 the foreign trade balance (export FOB - import CIF) was in a deficit of 6,599.5 million leva, 1,264.4 million leva less than in 2014. At FOB/FOB prices (after elimination of transport and insurance costs on imports) the trade balance was in a deficit of 4,064 million leva.

Bulgaria's exports to the EU totalled 29,049.4 million leva in 2015, up 7.9 per cent on 2014. Imports from the EU stood at 33,157.2 million leva, up 5.2 per cent on 2014.

Bulgaria's foreign trade balance (export FOB - import CIF) with the EU was in a deficit of 4,107.8 million leva in 2015.

In 2015, Bulgarian exports to third countries dropped by 2.5 per cent from a year earlier to 15,900.1 million leva. At 18,391.8 million leva, imports from third countries decreased by 6.1 per cent from 2014.

Bulgaria's foreign trade balance (export FOB - import CIF) with third countries was in a deficit of 2,491.7 million leva in 2015.

In January-June 2016, Bulgaria's exports to the EU increased by 3.7 per cent from a year earlier and totalled 14,679.2 million leva, according to NSI preliminary data.

In June 2016, exports to the EU went up 5 per cent from a year earlier and stood at 2,689.4 million leva.

January-June imports from the EU dropped 0.3 per cent from a year earlier and totalled 16,051.5 million leva at CIF prices. June imports from the EU countries increased by 1.8 per cent from a year earlier and totalled 2,880.5 million leva.

In January-June 2016, Bulgaria's foreign trade balance (export FOB - import CIF) with the EU was in a deficit of 1,372.3 million leva. At FOB/FOB prices (after elimination of transport and insurance costs on imports) the trade balance was in a deficit of 622.6 million leva.

In January-June 2016, Bulgaria's exports to third countries decreased by 15.6 per cent from a year earlier and stood at 8,287.3 million leva, according to NSI preliminary data.

In July 2016, Bulgaria's exports to third countries were down by 13.8 per cent compared to a year earlier and stood at 1,272.7 million leva.

In January-June 2016, Bulgaria's imports from third countries decreased by 16 per cent from a year earlier and totalled 9,244.3 million leva (at CIF prices). In July alone, imports from third countries dropped by 13.5 per cent from a year earlier and stood at 1,416.9 million leva.
