Central Election Commission Receives 76 Complaints

Sofia, November 6 (BTA) - The Central Election Commission (CEC) has so far received 76 complaints relevant to Sunday's presidential elections and national referendum, CEC spokespersons Kamelia Neikova and Alexander Andreev said in the early afternoon on polling day.

Some of the complaints are about separate booths being available for the presidential ballot and the referendum vote in some voting sections, which is against the rules established by the CEC. The situation is similar in places where local by-elections are being conducted as well.

The CEC ruled that ballot papers which have been completed properly should be considered valid even if they had been torn off incorrectly, Andreev said.

In some cases, observers were not allowed into voting sections, but the CEC has issued clear guidelines about that, he said.

According to one report, a presidential election ballot was put in the referendum ballot box. This vote will be considered valid, because the mistake was the section commission's fault, Andreev explained.
