President-elect Radev to Meet Election Law Experts on Introduction of Majoritarian System

Sofia, November 21 (BTA) - "If Bulgaria is in for early parliamentary elections, I will initiate a meeting with the National Assembly Chair, the leaders of the parliamentary parties, election legislation experts and the initiators of the referendum to discuss the introduction of a majoritarian system and to agree on the necessary steps," President- elect Rumen Radev told journalists on Monday after a ceremony where he was handed the decision for his election by the Central Election Commission. Radev thanked all Bulgarians who voted in the elections and election officials who had made a huge effort to hold democratic, fair and transparent elections. "The handing of the mandate is an expression of recognition in these elections. With it come extreme responsibilities and I assure you that we'll work tirelessly and devote ourselves to a democratic and prosperous Bulgaria," said Radev.

The ceremony was unveiled by National Assembly Chair Tsetska Tsacheva, who congratulated Radev and Vice President elect Iliana Yotova on their election victory and the trust of the Bulgarian citizens.

Radev said that there was no political crisis in Bulgaria and that a routine constitutional procedure was underway. Taking a question he said there were two resolutions - a government within the current legislature or the appointment of a caretaker government and early elections. Radev said that the caretaker government is a responsibility solely of President Rosen Plevneliev under the Constitution. "I have his assurances that I will be informed and I count on his experience and professionalism to form a good caretaker government," said Radev forecasting that early elections are more likely.
