Initiative Launched to Promote Northwestern Town of Svoge as Extreme Sport Destination

Sofia, December 16 (BTA) - The Town Hall of the northwestern town of Svoge, aided by Ivan Kristoff who is an aviator, rescue worker, and rope access expert in vertical and aerial operations, dubbed Spiderman, launch a platform to promote Svoge as a tourist destination for extreme sports and adventure tourism. The initiative was presented at a BTA-hosted news conference on Friday.

Svoge Deputy Mayor in charge of tourism Nina Koprindjiska said at the news conference that the Svoge Municipality has one-of-a-kind natural sights and tourist landmarks, and proper infrastructure to access them. She voiced regret that the breath-taking vistas, the excellent conditions for rock climbing, mountain biking, rafting, camping, and cave explorations are little known even to Bulgarian tourists. The aim of the initiative is to make Svoge a hub of extreme sports and tourism in 2017.

Kristoff too said that Svoge is little known to tourists.

One of the activities of the initiative involves extreme sport training sessions for reporters which will prepare them to cover risky land, water and aerial rescue operations.
