Floor Leader Tsvetanov: GERB May Nominate Ministers to Possible New Cabinet

Sofia, December 19 (BTA) - "There is likelihood that GERB may nominate ministers to a possible new government, but the prime minister will be named by the Reformist Bloc in consensus with all parliamentary groups that form the majority," said GERB floor leader Tsvetan Tsvetanov on Monday. He was speaking to journalists after the first formal meeting between GERB, the Reformist Bloc /RB/ and the Patriotic Front /PF/ on Monday to explore possibilities for forming a government within the life of the 43rd National Assembly.

Participating in the meeting were GERB floor leader Tsvetan Tsvetanov, the leaders of the parties within the Bloc without Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) and Valeri Simeonov and Krassimir Karakachanov of the Patriotic Front.

Tsvetanov said that the meeting discussed sectoral policies. He said that there will be more clarity about the possibilities to form a government on Tuesday.

Reformist Bloc co-floor leader Nayden Zelenogorski said that the current government formula between GERB, the Patriotic Front and the Reformist Bloc should remain.

Speaking to journalists after a meeting of the RB's Executive Council, outgoing Health Minister Peter Moskov said that talks will focus on the programme and the priorities of a new government provided it has parliamentary support.

Moskov added that Monday's talks are expected to establish whether there is a parliamentary majority and political partieswilling to back a reconfirmation of the programme priorities of the outgoing government with specific highlights. According to Moskov, for GERB these are changes to the election legislation and if the parties agreed, it would be a big step ahead.

Moskov said that any talks about the members of the government and the prime minister will be held later. He said it was important to take advantage of every opportunity within the incumbent Parliament for a stable majority which will continue to develop its priorities in personal security, e-government, and justice. Moskov specified that if this is not possible and there are no common goals, it doesn't matter who the prime minister will be.

Meanwhile, DSB announced that Peter Moskov had been expelled from the party on Sunday because of his failure to comply with the decisions of party's bodies, discrediting the image of DSB and his readiness to participate in another political formation.
