Attempt to Form New Government Fails

Sofia, December 20 (BTA) - Meeting on Tuesday, GERB, the Reformist Bloc, the Patriotic Front and Ataka failed to reach an agreement on a possible new government.

GERB floor leader Tsvetan Tsvetanov told a news briefing after the meeting: "We are unable to reach an agreement in principle on sectoral policies and continue to govern within the current majority."

According to him, over the course of four to five days the parties held very intensive talks in order to find common ground and form a government on the mandate of the Reformist Bloc. "There are differences on which we can't reach consensus," said Tsvetanov, adding that the public mood for early elections has been taken into consideration. Attending the meeting was outgoing Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov.

The Reformist Bloc is set to return the mandate to President Rosen Plevneliev after the unsuccessful attempt. /MORE
