District Heating Companies Were Main Target of Complaints Submitted to Ombudsman in 2016

Sofia, January 9 (BTA) - The largest number of complaints and alerts submitted to the Office of the National Ombudsman in 2016 were against district heating companies, Ombudsman Maya Manolova told a news conference on Monday.

There were 882 such complaints and alerts out of a total of 10,640. Thirty per cent of the total were against monopolies and public service providers.

Alerts about consumer rights violations by arbitration courts decreased to 128 in 2016 from 1,645 in 2015.

The Ombudsman's Office completed 9,675 checks throughout the year and provided assistance to 27,037 people.

Geographically, the largest number of complaints were received from the country's three largest cities: Sofia, Plovdiv and Varna.
