Laid-off  Bobov Dol Miners End Protest

Bobov Dol, January 20 (BTA) - The laid-off workers of the open-pit mines in Bobov Dol ended their protest after six hours and as a result of successful negotiations.

With the help of Ombudsman Maya Manolova, the CEO and the protestors reached an agreement under which the latter will receive their wages for November and December in four equal instalments by March 15, 2017. The sides also reached an agreement on the payment of food vouchers.

Miners who in December were laid of from the Bobov Dol mines staged a protest rally on Thursday to demand the payment of back wages, compensations and food vouchers. The miners do not accept the decision of the management to pay the due amounts in instalments by the middle of the year. The protesters blocked the road between Kyustendil and Doupnitsa.
