Margarita Popova Appointed BIA Vice President, General Secretary

Sofia, January 23 (BTA) - Margarita Popova, who was Bulgaria's Vice President between 2012 and 2017, was appointed Vice President and General Secretary of the Bulgarian Industrial Association (BIA), the employers' organization said on Monday.

As BIA Vice President, Popova will be in charge of the legal infrastructure, including BIA's Arbitration Court, and international relations.

Dobri Mitrev was appointed Vice General Secretary. He will be in charge of contacts with BIA members and administrative services.

Peter Denev, who was general secretary until now, was appointed Vice President responsible for SMEs, contacts with universities and foreign economic cooperation.

Sasho Donchev and Bojidar Danev will keep their posts as Chairman of the Managing Board and Executive President, respectively. Dimiter Brankov and Kamen Kolev will keep their posts as Vice Presidents alongside Popova.

Shortly before the end of Popova's term it was rumoured that she might be appointed deputy prime minister and justice minister of the caretaker government which will be appointed by President Rumen Radev. At the time Roumyana Kolarova, secretary of then President Rosen Plevneliev, said this would defy any logic.

Before she was elected Vice President, Popova was justice minister of Borissov's first cabinet. Before that she was prosecutor.
