Bulgaria, Greece Share Responsibility to Protect European Citizens' Security

Sofia, February 13 (BTA) - As external borders of the European Union, Bulgaria and Greece are faced with a common challenge: to protect the security of all European citizens, Bulgarian Vice President Iliana Iotova said during a meeting with Greek Ambassador in Sofia Grigorios Vassilokonstandakis here on Monday, quoted by the President's Press Secretariat.

"I am convinced that solidarity on important issues should be distributed among all EU Member States," Iotova added. According to her, Bulgaria and Greece should have key positions on the issues of refugees, migration and Turkey. The Vice President thanked the Greek Ambassador for Greece's consistent support for Bulgaria's accession to Schengen.

The Greek diplomat said that the Dublin Regulation should work in a better way. He added that there cannot be solidarity under conditions.

"Our goal is to have fair and just elections, so all Bulgarians can exercise their right to vote, including Bulgarians living in Greece," said Iotova.

Vassilokonstandakis is certain that the Greek authorities will assist with the achievement of this goal.

When they confer next, Iotova and Vassilokonstandakis will discuss the prospects before Bulgaria and Greece to use funds under the Juncker investment plan.
