Constitutional Court Cancels Sanction for Non-compliance with Mandatory Voting
Sofia, February 23 (BTA) - The Constitutional Court cancelled the sanction for non-compliance with the requirement for mandatory voting, BTA learnt from the Court. Going to the polls remains mandatory and only the sanction is removed.
According to the scrapped provision of the Election Code, a person, who does not vote in two successive elections of the same type, were to be deleted from the voters' lists.
Mandatory voting was introduced through amendments to the Election Code in April 2016.
