Gallup International a Week before Elections: 5+1 Political Formations to Enter Parliament

Sofia, March 19 (BTA) - It will be determined in the last days of the elections campaign whether the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) or GERB will win the elections, according to an opinion poll carried out by the Gallup International polling agency among 1,012 people in the March 10-15 period.

Five or six political formations will enter Parliament. Of those, who are definite that they would go to the polls, 30.3 per cent would vote for BSP, 29.9 per cent for GERB, 11.5 per cent for the United Patriots, 8.1 per cent for the Movement for Rights and Freedoms Party, 6.5 per cent for the Volya Party and 4.4 per cent for the Reformist Bloc - People's Voice Coalition.

The number of undecided voters, who yet have preferences for GERB, has slight prevalence and GERB has focused on attracting them. Yet, BSP electorate stands out with higher mobilization. According to the pollsters, the tension with Turkey may trigger higher support for the United Patriots.

It will become clear at the very elections whether DOST is able to attract some of the MRF supporters and what their number would be. Besides, the respondents are not always sincere in their answers.

The parties, which are close to passing the 4 per cent barrier for entering the National Assembly are: ABV-Movement 21 Coalition (2.4 per cent), Yes, Bulgaria Movement Coalition (2.3 per cent) and New Republic Coalition (1.5 per cent). 3.1 per cent said they would vote for other parties.

Around 3.7 million people are expected to go to the polls, as one fifth are to take a decision in the following days. 2.5 per cent said they would choose "none of the above option", according to Gallup International.
