Caretaker PM: Every Single Bulgarian Has Power to Elect Who Governs Country

Sofia, March 24 (BTA) - Caretaker Prime Minister Ognyan Gerdjikov Friday made an address to the nation on the eve of the March 26 early parliamentary elections, saying that every single Bulgarian has the power to elect who will govern this country. The address was released by the government's information service.

Gerdjikov turned to first-time voters, urging them to go to the polls. "Do not hesitate. Vote! Bulgaria needs your vote. You are the future, you are the carriers of the modern and of progress and your Motherland needs your active participation in the political life," Gerdjikov said.

The Prime Minister also turned to those who plan to choose the "None of the above" option in the ballot paper. "I am telling you, there are countries in the world where the right to vote is only a dream. Think again and give a chance to those who plan the things that are important for you in a way that you find appropriate," the Prime Minister said.

Gerdjikov said that the caretaker cabinet has fulfilled its duty to prepare the proper conduct of the elections. Security and order are under permanent control. All alerts for breaches of the law are being answered promptly and adequately. The borders are guarded in line with the legal requirements. The conditions for the conduct of the elections guarantee every Bulgarian's right to vote. The people's choice must be free, reasoned, and democratic, Gerdjikov said.
