GERB Leadership, Leaders of United Patriots Hold Talks

Sofia, March 31 (BTA) - The leadership of GERB, the party who won the highest number of seats in the next Parliament, including GERB leader and former prime minister Boyko Borissov, and the leaders of the parties in the United Patriots coalition: Valeri Simeonov, Krasssimir Karakachanov and Volen Siderov, held talks Friday in GERB's headquarters.

In the 240-seat Parliament GERB has 95 seats, and the United Patriots, 27 seats.

The participants in the meeting declined to say what was discussed.

Siderov said that if the parties are consensus-oriented and ready to compromise, the time-frame of the negotiations on formation of a government will be shorter.

Karakachanov said that the talks are yet to come, and the participants in the meeting did not discuss programmes.

Both Siderov and Karakachanov said that the talks did not discuss allocation of ministries. The two either did not say whether they would be part of a government together with Vesselin Mareshki's Volya party, which won 12 seats. Siderov and Karakachanov either did not say whether Friday's talks discussed a two-fold or three-fold coalition.
