Sofia, June 4 (BTA) - "We strongly condemn yet another barbaric attack against peaceful civilians. Bulgaria stands side by side with Britain in the fight against terrorism," President Rumen Radev wrote in a tweet, offering condolences to the families of those killed and wounded in the terrorist act in London on the night of June 3 to 4.

Three attackers ploughed their van into pedestrians on London Bridge and then stabbed others at Borough Market, killing seven and injuring 48 before being shot dead by police.

"Our thoughts are with the anguish that the people of the UK are going through at this time," Borissov pointed out. He wished the competent authorities success in this difficult situation and expressed his confidence that, in cooperation with the Allied and partner countries, the perpetrators will be detected and will get their just deserts.

Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Krassimir Karakachanov empathized with the victims of the terrorism incidents in London. "The tragedy shows yet again that our world is under threat. The rule of law, democracy and our values are under threat. That is why we must be united today, in order to defend our way of life," Karakachanov said, quoted by his VMRO Party in a press release. He reiterated that all this demonstrates the need of a clearer EU security policy. "We moan the victims and are ever more confident that the US, Europe and the civilized world must stand together against fanaticism and radicalism," the Bulgarian Defence Minister added.

By 8:30 a.m. Bulgarian time, the Bulgarian Embassy in London did not have information about any Bulgarian nationals having been hurt in the terrorist attacks.
