Pernik, Western Bulgaria, July 8 (BTA) - Institutions don't do enough for people with disabilities, said on Saturday Vice President Iliana Yotova at the opening of the 11 th edition of a national festival of people with disabilities in Pernik. The Vice President conveyed greeting to the festival participants on behalf of President Rumen Radev.

Yotova recalled that the United Nations adopted the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in 2006. УWe all thought that people with disabilities will begin to feel as full-fledged members of society and that it will do away with discrimination,Ф said Yotova. She recalled that in 2012 Bulgaria ratified the convention, but still legislation is not strong enough in order to guarantee the rights of people with disabilities.

Yotova said it was cynical to talk about disability pensions and medical expertise in the face of so many problems which the state needs to resolve.

The Vice President called for a discussion on the active inclusion of the people with disabilities. She vowed on behalf of the Presidency to organize a broad public discussion on legislation necessary for people with disabilities.

Speaking to journalists in Pernik, Vice President Yotova said that Bulgaria and Macedonia both need the good-neighbourliness treaty. УI donТt understand the hysteria in Macedonia, the verbal assaults and the anti-Bulgarian rhetoric with which we had parted decades ago. Unfortunately, it is making a comeback. I am convinced that the Macedonian government will have the will, strength and energy to resolve the issues,Ф said Yotova.
