Sofia, September 15 (BTA) - Bulgaria strongly condemns the DPRK's latest missile launch, the Foreign Ministry said on Friday.

This is the DPRK's second very serious provocation in less than two weeks, which further escalates tension in the region and poses a threat to world peace and security.

The Foreign Ministry denounces the latest violation of the UN Security Council Resolutions. It hails Resolution 2375, unanimously adopted on September 11, which strengthens UN sanctions on the DPRK, as well as the setting up of an extraordinary UN Security Council meeting on the DPRK's nuclear and missile programme on Friday.

Bulgaria supports the intention stated by the EU's High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini for a more active role of the EU in seeking a peaceful solution to the crisis, for additional, autonomous EU sanctions and close interaction with the international partners.

Bulgaria's Foreign Ministry again urged the DPRK to end once and for all its nuclear and ballistic missile programme completely and irreversibly, thus fully meeting its international commitments, and to engage in meaningful dialogue with the international community towards finding a peaceful solution.
