Sofia, November 14 (BTA) - President Rumen Radev met with British Ambassador here Emma Hopkins at the presidency on Tuesday.

The Bulgarian head of State expressed hope that following Brexit Bulgaria and the UK will continue their efficient cooperation in key areas of mutual interests such as defence, migration, fight against terrorism, judicial reform, economy and investments.

The UK is a strategic partner of Bulgaria and Europe and ally within NATO, said radev.

The two sides concurred that the adoption of longterm measures for protection of European borders and the fight against human trafficking are in the best interest of all European countries.

The meeting highlighted Bulgaria's efforts to undertake efficient measures in the fight against corruption. Ambassador Hopkins shared the British experience in connection with prevention and transparency in public procurement.

The noted the role of the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism by the European Commission.

Hopkins and Radev discussed a joint notification on the Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO) in the area of security and defence signed on Monday between 23 EU states.

President Radev expressed hope that after Brexit the rights of all Bulgarians living in the United Kingdom will be guaranteed.
