Vienna/Sofia, January 1 (BTA) - On the first day of 2018, President Rumen Radev and his wife Dessislava Radeva paid a visit to Vienna on the invitation of Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen, said the President's Press Secretariat Monday. The Bulgarian head of State and the First Lady were guests of honour during the New Year's Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.

The Austrian President extended the invitation during the 13th Arraiolos Group Meeting in Malta in September 2017. Back then the Bulgarian and Austrian heads of state held their first bilateral meeting.

In Vienna, Radev held working meetings with President Van der Bellen and Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid in the context of the EU Trio of countries (holding the previous, current and next Presidency of the EU Council).

President Radev also talked with Austria's Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz and invited him to visit Bulgaria at his convenience.
