Sofia, February 7 (BTA) - Nearly 50 per cent of the Bulgarians aged 16-74 years who used the Internet were ready to provide general personal information about themselves online, according to a Eurostat poll into attitudes of Internet users in the EU in 2016. The average EU percentage of Internet users willing to share personal data online was 70 per cent.

The survey examined online activities where users were required to provide some kind of personal data, such as credit card information for online purchases, contact data when creating profiles, or location data when searching for nearest locations of something.

However, only 20 per cent of the Bulgarians using the Internet were ready to share personal data live. Only nine per cent of the Bulgarians using the Internet shared personal data live in online banking, against an average share of 40 per cent for the EU.

Mostly - 85 per cent, the Bulgarians used the Internet for phone or video calls.
