Caretaker Foreign Minister Nadezhda Neynsky took part in a working dinner in Brussels on Sunday organized by Croatia in its capacity as chair of the Three Seas Initiative for 2026, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said here on Monday. Representatives of participating countries and partners in the initiative attended the meeting to exchange views on the development of transport, energy and digital connectivity along the European North-South axis between the Baltic, Black and Adriatic seas.

During the discussions, Neynsky welcomed the priorities of the Croatian chairmanship aimed at strengthening transport, energy and digital connectivity within the initiative. She stressed that in the current geopolitical environment reinforcing the North–South axis and diversifying energy supplies are of primary importance.

"In this context, the Black Sea region is gaining additional strategic importance, and we remain committed to accelerating the implementation of key infrastructure projects," Neynsky said.

The participants highlighted the need to increase investment in infrastructure and improve military mobility, which is important for strengthening NATO’s eastern flank. Neynsky also stressed the importance of completing Corridor VIII as a key link between the Black Sea and the Adriatic Sea and as an important element for developing new logistics routes to and from Ukraine.

The growing significance of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor for connectivity between Europe and Asia was also noted.

Neynsky highlighted Bulgaria’s role in developing regional connectivity through its strong IT sector, favourable environment for technology companies, cybersecurity capacity and suitable conditions for testing artificial intelligence-based services.

The working dinner took place as part of preparations for the upcoming Three Seas Initiative Summit, which will be held in Dubrovnik at the end of April and will outline the strategic priorities for the initiative in the coming years.
