Expert: 85% of Jobs Won't Exist
in their Current Form
in 2030

Sofia, March 21 (BTA) - Some 85 per cent of jobs are expected to have changed by 2030 and not exist in their current form, said here Wednesday Svetlin Nakov of the SotfUni Software University during the opening of an international forum about the future of labour, organized by the Labour and Social Policy Ministry with support from the European Commission.

Nakov projects that low-skilled jobs will disappear completely and unskilled labourers will be replaced by robots. According to him, taxi cab drivers will be obsolete in 20-30 years, as cars by then will be self-driving, while there will be restaurants without servers and cooks. New professions are expected to emerge, such as a robot trainer, he went on to say.

According to him, people must acquire more skills and better education than the currently existing one. Labour and its classical forms are disappearing. According to the expert, there likely won't be a need for a labour ministry in the future, because work will be available only for the highly qualified, while those without jobs will be served by the social systems. Nakov predicts new ministries, such as a ministry of talent and a ministry of skills development. He also described digital skills as a necessity, just like literacy and foreign languages. LI/MY
