Sofia, June 15 (BTA) - President Rumen Radev congratulated the Muslim community in Bulgaria on the occasion of Ramazan Bayram, his press secretariat said Friday. "On the days of Ramazan Bayram, dedicated to absolution and generosity, may your homes be blessed with peace, health and happiness," Radev says in his address.

"I believe that the purpose of every holiday is to bring us closer. When we share our joyous days and traditions, we strengthen our unity and power to overcome together the difficulties on our shared path," Radev goes on to say. He underscores that the Bulgarian nation has many reasons to be proud of the traditional understanding between the religious communities in this country.

The GERB parliamentary group congratulated the Muslim community on their religious holiday in a declaration read by MP Altimir Adamov during Friday's National Assembly sitting. GERB wished everyone celebrating Ramazan Bayram health, piety and strength, as well as peace, harmony and unity in their families and homes.

Adamov said that the month of Ramazan is a symbol of love for one's brother, friendship, trust, unity and good-neighbourliness. "The holidays bringing us together and the diversity of the customs we have preserved in time, are the chaplet linking our ancestors, us and our children," he also said.

Movement for Rights and Freedoms leader Mustafa Karadayi also congratulated Muslims on their holiday, wishing them health and prosperity, the party's press office said. "Ramazan Bayram is described as a holiday of tolerance, solidarity and compassion, and I pray that this will increase further the feeling of unity and togetherness. Let us live in peace and prosperity regardless of religion, race and ethnicity," the address reads.
