Major Car Upholstery
Producer in Bulgaria
Files for Bankruptcy
Sofia, January 21 (BTA) - ALC Bulgaria EOOD, a Canadian-owned producer of car upholstery, has filed for bankruptcy. This transpires from a statement by the Labour and Social Policy Ministry which said Monday that the Employment Agency and the Labour Inspectorate will provide consultancy to some 1,600 workers in the three ALC factories in Bulgaria, who will become redundant.
ALC has filed for bankruptcy with the Sofia District Court and is pulling out of Bulgaria.
According to the Mediapool e-zine, the decision of the company was prompted by labour shortage.
ALC has factories in Mousachevo, Ihtiman and Blagoevgrad.
This has been the second maker of car parts to leave Bulgaria, says Mediapool. The Belgian Malmar, which makes bus and truck parts for Volvo and Renault, said about a year ago that it was planning to pull out of the country over a shortage of labour.
